Mayor joins Reading Welcome Ambassadors

Mayor of Reading, Councillor Alice Mpofu-Coles, joined Reading's volunteer Welcome Ambassadors for a shift at Reading Station this month.
The Mayor joined volunteers John Painter and Catherine Jackson on the Visitor Information stand at Reading Station to learn more about what the volunteers do to welcome visitors to Reading and help guide their onward journeys.
Reading's Welcome Ambassadors have been volunteering at Reading Station since 2021, providing directions, information and a warm welcome to visitors , as well as helping people navigate Reading Station. The mobile information booth is located under the train information boards by the ticket barriers to provide an easily viisible information point.
Armed with maps, leaflets and a wealth of knowledge, the volunteers are proud to suggest ideas of things to do in Reading as well as helping people reach their destination. The team of 15 volunteer for one 3 hour shift a week.
The team are managed by REDA, Reading's Ecnomy and Destination Agency. Anyone wanting to join the Welcome Ambassadors team, can email alex.brannen@reading.gov.uk
