Reading to Welcome the Year of the Horse with Chinese New Year Gala

Reading Town Centre will host a vibrant Chinese New Year Gala on Sunday 1 March, celebrating the Year of the Horse with a day of culture.

Organised by Reading Chinese School, in partnership with Reading Borough Council, Reading BID and local schools and community groups, the event is open to everyone.
From 10:30–11:30am, visitors can drop into traditional Chinese workshops, including music, dance and Chinese Tea Art. At 11:45am, a colourful street parade will set off from Town Hall Square, winding through the high street via Market Place with lions, dragons and pandas among the celebrations.
The festivities continue indoors from 1:30–3:40pm with a programme of performances featuring lion dances, traditional singing and dancing, live music and Taiji.
All workshops and outdoor performances are free to attend, making this a welcoming celebration for the whole community.
