Glow Lantern Parade to Light Up Reading This Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day (Saturday 14 February), Reading’s town centre will be transformed into a glowing river of light for the Glow Lantern Parade.

Residents and visitors are invited to bring their loved ones together for a magical evening of community, creativity and celebration. The parade will illuminate the heart of the town, offering a unique atmosphere for couples, families and friends alike. The Pantry is also staying open late so participants can enjoy some hot drinks and treats after the parade.
Event Details
- Date: Saturday 14 February 2026
- Time: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- Location: The parade starts outside Blue Collar Corner on Hosier Street before parading down Broad Street and finishing in Town Hall Square.
- Admission: Free to watch and participate
Live Music
Adding to the enchanting atmosphere on the day, the parade will be led by Beetroots whose drumming will lead the procession through the streets, followed by a live music performance in the Town Hall square by the Lily Beck Band ensuring the evening is as vibrant as it is beautiful.

Get Involved: Lantern Making Workshops
Come along to one of the lantern-making workshops prior to the event, run by local arts organisation, Jelly and Beautiful Creatures Theatre. These sessions offer a wonderful opportunity for participants to craft their own beautiful hand-held lanterns to carry during the procession.
