King's Award for Reading construction company
13th May 2026
Woodley-based Lee Marley Brickwork have been announced as a recipient of The King's Awards for Enterprise, a programme which recognises the best of British innovation and talent, and which has been supported by the Monarch since it was first established in 1965. Lee Marley Brickwork is one of the UK's leading brickwork, scaffolding and integrated façade subcontractors.

REDA Chief Executive, Nigel Horton-Baker, said: “My congratulations to Lee Marley Brickwork Ltd on receiving the King's Award for promoting opportunity. It is important we have high-quality construction sector businesses in Reading to service Reading’s future building growth and steer the development of the future construction workforce.
“Reading has seen a huge amount of construction in the recent decade and more is still to come on the back of Reading’s high performing economy and great location boosted by the extension to the Elizabeth Line, which itself has been one of the key drivers of investment and development in high quality offices and residential dwellings.
“With many big projects in the planning, such as a new hospital, leisure and housing around Reading Football Club, further high rise flat developments, Reading Gaol, town centre residential developments, not to mention development in neighbouring towns such as Maidenhead and of course the building of Heathrow's third runway and a new rail link from the GWR line (at Slough) to Heathrow, the demand for construction services and materials is set to rocket placing pressure on supply.
“The growing economy will also put pressure on the demand for labour and is why we need to skill, reskill and grow our local construction industry workforce. In winning this award, Lee Marley Brickwork have demonstrated their own support for people from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them improve their job skills and chances of finding work in the construction sector. In Reading, we have great facilities at Activate Learning (Reading College Campus) and other apprenticeship providers to help meet the challenge.”
