Afternoon tea on Whittington tea barge

About

Discover Reading’s most unique dining destination. Moored near the historic Reading Bridge, Whittington’s Tea Barge offers a tranquil escape from the city hustle. This family-run, restored narrowboat specializes in award-winning Afternoon Tea with vintage charm on the water or the scenic riverbank.

On Friday, join us for "Friday Cha Chaan Teng" - an authentic Hong Kong café experience unique to the Thames. From monthly 2-hour river cruises with afternoon tea to creative preserved flower workshops, Whittington's is more than a tea room - it's a unique Thames experience. We offer a tranquil "Slow Life" escape just a 5-minute walk from the Elizabeth Line at Reading Station. Whether you're a local neighbor or a London day-tripper, a warm welcome (and a fresh pot of tea) awaits.
