Day 4 was Worting to Upper Wield - about 10.5 miles. It took us around 4 hours with stops at several fine historic churches along the way and a picnic. Starting at Worting is easy on public transport - a local bus from Basingstoke Station or a short taxi ride. Upper Wield doesn't have any public transport options so we booked a taxi to collect us at the Church of St James in Upper Wield to take us back to Basingstoke Station (£22 - Alpha Taxis).
The start of this day's walking takes you round the edge of Basingstoke on an excellent path until you go over the M3. In this next section, the pretty villages of Dummer and Preston Candover were worth stopping in, both with lovely churches - All Saints in Dummer had a stamp, while we also looked into the Old Church St Mary the Virgin in Preston, which is no longer a working church but a historic monument.
