Pubs & Bars in Reading

Reading offers some of the best nightlife in the region, with a great selection of pubs and bars, as well as nightclubs and music venues for those extending the evening into the early hours. The Oracle Riverside is home to a number of well-known bars serving drinks with a river view, and Gun Street, West Street and Friar Street are where you’ll find most of Reading’s late-night offerings within the town centre.

Newcomers to Reading are Siren Brew Bar in Friar Street, showcasing over 25 beers from the local Siren brewery and the Rising Sun gastropub and restaurant in Castle Street with a gorgeous courtyard garden for the summer.

For good old-fashioned pubs serving real ale, head to the Allied Arms or Ale House, for cocktails try High Spirits, Revolucion De Cuba or All Bar One. Beer-lovers can venture to Brewdog, Zero Degrees or BierHaus and for a laid-back evening with good music and drinks list, try the Purple Turtle, Oakford Social Club or Milk Bar. Many of Reading’s town centre hotels also have bars to relax at the beginning or end of your evening, and, for the party animals, Reading’s vibrant nightclubs keep going until the early hours. Further afield, you’ll find many charming countryside pubs in the skirting villages and suburbs around Reading.
