Reading is a surprisingly green place to live and visit. With the Rivers Thames and Kennet flowing through the town, a large University campus and plentiful parks and historic gardens across the town, you'll find plenty of space to relax.

In the heart of town, the Abbey Quarter is Reading's green lung - Forbury Gardens alongside the Abbey Ruins provides a large green space for picnics, walks and exploration.

The Thames Path and Reading's riverside parks and gardens are very attractive. Look for historic Caversham Court Gardens, Thames Valley Park or Christchurch Meadows for river views. East Reading's Palmer Park boasts lots of green space as well as a velodrome, while west Reading's Prospect Park has great views from the mansion atop the hill.

Head south of the centre for the University of Reading's 125 hectare Whiteknights campus complete with lake and botanic Harris Garden.
